White Lightning Original chain lube
I have used White Lightning Original for about 4 years, it is a fantastic chain lube for dry and intermediate conditions. I believe it is a wax emulsion dispersed in a very mild solvent. Whatever, I find gear changes are very smooth and importantly it does not attract dirt and mud onto the chain in the same way that conventional oils seem to.
I have found that the following procedure gives the best results. When you first start to use it on a chain shake the bottle until there is no residue visible at the bottom, then apply to a clean (throughly degreased and dried) dry chain while rotating the chain backwards, leave overnight to dry, then repeat the process for 3 days. This seems to allow the lube to throughly penetrate into all the pin/plate joints. Subsequent applications are a single dose on the chain after the bike has been cleaned.
Although sold as a dry weather chain lube I use it from March to October, a period that includes many wet and muddy rides. Highly recommended.
