Caught in the Dark Sept 06

Last night we seriously misjudged our ride time. What started as an evening trundle on a lovely calm cool but not cold evening became a death defying survival run.

We totally misjudged the speed at which the sun would set. One minute it was low in the sky and all was well, the next we were in total darkness facing a steep and very sketchy descent to the carpark without any lights. I hit a couple of rocks that squirmmed out from under the wheels and came very close to having me off and my buddy almost washed the front wheel on a couple of corners.

First job when I got home was to charge the batteries for my lights and leave myself a reminder to pack them in my backpack. The two photos were taken on the same stretch of bridleway 10 minutes apart.
